Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Giveway Technologies, a business name registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (BN 6982870). By creating an account or using Giveway you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What Giveway is

Giveway is a place where people share money. A host puts a prize pool into a round. Anyone who joins can make one bid saying what the money would mean to them. Everyone who joins gets 100 Kindness Points (KP) to give to the bids they like, and an algorithm splits the pool across the bids that people supported most. Giveway is not a bank, a lender or a charity. Joining is free, winners are chosen by people's votes rather than by chance, and nothing you pay can buy Kindness Points or a better chance. All payment services are conducted through Paystack, and funds are held by Paystack. We run the arena and move the money; we don't judge who deserves it.

Your account

• You need an account (an email address and a sign-in code) to host, bid, give KP or claim an award.
• Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Give us accurate details. One person, one account.
• We can suspend an account that breaks these terms or the fairness rules below.

Hosting a giveaway

• A new giveaway is a draft until the pool is paid in. You pay the prize pool plus Paystack's payment fee, so the full pool reaches your winners. The giveaway goes live as soon as Paystack confirms the payment.
• Rarely, an admin may waive the deposit for a round. A waived round goes live and is always labelled "Not funded" so everyone can see the money hasn't been paid in.
• The pool is split by the algorithm once voting closes. You can't choose the winners, change the result, or take the pool back after it has been shared out.
• You can't bid on your own giveaway.
• Don't use the photo, title or message of a giveaway to mislead, harass, advertise or break the law.

Making a bid

• Each player gets one bid per round. Describe what you'd use the money for, honestly.
• Bids that are false, abusive or against the law can be removed.

Kindness Points and fairness

• Everyone who joins gets 100 KP for that round. Money can't buy KP, visibility or a better chance.
• You can give your own bid only the free KP you started with. KP you earn by inviting others can only go to other people's bids.
• Don't run multiple accounts, trade KP, or otherwise game the arena. We can discard KP, remove bids and withhold awards where we find this.
• While voting is open, other people's KP and per-bid totals stay hidden. After results, winners are shown by alias, not by name.

Backing a pool

Anyone can add money to a running pool. You pay the amount you choose plus Paystack's payment fee, and the whole amount goes into the pool. You can add an optional tip for Giveway; a tip is never added to the pool. Backing a pool doesn't buy KP or change anyone's chances. Contributions close when voting ends. Winning and getting paid

• If your bid is funded, we email you and show the award on your account page, with a claim link.
• To claim, enter your Nigerian bank account. We check the account name with the bank and send the money to that account.
• A flat bank transfer fee (₦10, ₦25 or ₦50, depending on the amount) is taken from the award, and we show it before you confirm.
• Claim links expire. If yours has, or a payout fails, contact support and we'll help.
• You are responsible for the account details you enter. We can't recover money sent to the account you gave us.
• Awards may be subject to taxes you owe. We don't withhold or report them for you.

Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack, and payouts are sent through our transfer service. We don't store card details. Fees are shown before you pay.

Our content and yours

You keep ownership of what you post (bids, giveaway text, photos). You give us a licence to show it on Giveway and in link previews so the site can work. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.

Things you must not do

Break the law, attack or probe the site, scrape personal data, impersonate someone, or use Giveway to launder money or defraud people.

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Giveway running and fair, but we provide it as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by someone else (a bank, Paystack, your network). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll tell you about significant changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Questions? Contact support.
